Elizabeth "Betty" Shaw's Obituary
Elizabeth “Betty” Shaw (nee Mahoney) passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 with Ken holding her hand. Born in Philadelphia to William and MaryAnn (nee McGrath) Mahoney, Betty was the fifth of seven children- sister to Joan Maloney, Alice Morrone -deceased, Peggy Crumbock, Rosemary Convery, Gerry O’Halloran, and Jimmy Mahoney-deceased. Although they didn’t have much room in that small house on Oakmont Street, they made the most of it and spent many hours displaying their singing and dancing talents for anyone willing to watch.
She married the love of her life, Ken Shaw Jr. in 1964. Mother to Kenneth (Donna) Shaw III, Beth (Joe) Iatarola, Amy (Anthony) Re and Allyson (Dan) Cooney, Betty devoted herself to her vocation as wife and mother and provided a home that ensured that her children grew up knowing how much they were loved and cherished. She extended that same love to the next generation and was the proud grandmother of Amanda (Matt) Gearhart, Alex (Tim) Young, Kassandra (Justin) Beiler, Jessica (Niko) Pascual, Dan Shaw, Brittany (Tyler) Kline, Meghan Iatarola, Brian Iatarola, Samantha Re, Emily Re, Bernadette Re, Peter Re, Robert Re, Margaret Re, Natalie Cooney, Greyson Cooney, Cassidy Cooney and great-grandmother of Riley, Emmett, and Hunter Gearhart, Ricky and Annetta Young, Jensen and Oliver Beiler.
In addition to being an amazing mother, Betty sang in the church choir, was an avid skier, and competitive dance roller-skater. She had a great love of God, was a devout Catholic and a dedicated supporter of the Right to Life Movement. Although she will be missed by all who knew her in this life, we know that she is happy to be with her Heavenly Father.
