Dear Dennis and Family, I was shocked and saddened to learn of Ellen's passing. I had not seen Ellen for decades until a few years ago when I went to Lakeview to pay respects to friends and family that had passed. Ellen helped me to find their gravesites. As soon as I saw her and her bright smile, I asked "Are you Ellen Meckel?" She giggled and told me she married Dennis Gunn and told me about her life. Ellen looked exactly the same as she did in high school. Beautiful. When I said, I'm Maureen Clyde, she recognized me right away. We caught up and had a few laughs. In February of this year, I spoke with her by phone. She was helping me to make burial plans for my own future, and was concerned whether I was sick. No, I said. I'm fine, I just don't want my family to make these decisions for me. She joked saying yeah I don't want my kids making those decisions either. Ellen told me of her nearing retirement and how much she was looking forward to spending more time with her Mom and helping with grandchildren. She seemed very happy. I'll remember her that way. I'm sorry for your loss and the hole that must be in your hearts. Ellen will bring light to her place in the hereafter. Regards, Maureen Clyde
