Ruth was my best friend from 2003. When we met, I spoke very little English. I was grieving my 20yo daughter death. I was struggling with new for me in this country work relationships. I was beginning organist. Ruth was grieving her husband death. But she gave me comfort, support, friiienship, hug, understanding. We visited each other houses several times. We shared meels. Ruth always asked me to play for her. I loved to do it. I playdnmy music for her. I saw score with my composition on ger piano bench. I loved when she came to my concerts. Last time she did it was the day before she broke her hip. She told me how she was lying for hours on the icy porch... " this is the death of me" she thought. But she survived. Like she survived the cancer before. After hemotherapy she couldn't stand the tea ( she had it too muchduringg tje tratment). So when I visited her, she always reminded me to bring my own teabag. I loved to share meels with her. I felt so peaceful and right. She loved tuna salad with bagel. She liked my homemade soup. And she always returned the box, never forgot. Ruth was an amazing friend. She listened very well. Not only my music, but my complaints. I felt better afterbtalking to her.
Ruth was learning all her life. Before going to Philadelphia orchestra concerts, she would study the pieces she was going to listen, memorizing themes from symphoniesn of Brahms, or Mahler, or Bruckner, studyng the structure, composer style, techniques, biography, of course. She took me to rehearsal to Kimmel Center, because she was patron of the orchestra. We went together to AGO Convention in 2010. I was amazed how organized Ruth was. She didn't miss a thing! I remember when I offered my hand to Ruth ( on the stairs) she didn't want to take it, she was independent! My husband Kirill loved to go with my to her place, Ruth was his favorite friend, too.
She adored her family, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great children in law.
She loved birds. She was full of love. She was talented and hardworking musician. I often speak to her in my imagination. I will miss her terribly.
