Eugene John Hanlon's Obituary
Eugene “Gene” John Hanlon, of Cherry Hill, passed away on November 5, 2016 at the age of 82 years.
Born and raised in Philadelphia he was a long time resident of Maple Shade. A Honorably Discharged Veteran of the United States Air Force and lifetime member of Ironworkers Local 502, Gene would point out with pride the projects on which he worked. He enjoyed sharing his love of fishing with his grandchildren and showing off his flower and vegetable gardens. Outside of his family his other love was for the Dallas Cowboys.
Gene was precede in death by his beloved wife Barbara Ann, his parents John and Mary (nee Breslin), his sister Mary Babariaz, and brother John.
Gene is survived by his daughter Vicky and her husband Dr. Alan Shoupe of Fredericksburg, VA. His 6 grandchildren, Carly Tapp and her husband Harry (Quantico, VA); Lesly Cox (Arlington, VA), Ali Shoupe (Washington, DC), Malia, Joseph, and John Shoupe (Fredericksburg, VA).
Gene is also survived by his brother Daniel (Doylestown, PA), sister Bernadette Ferrell (Philadelphia, PA), and sister Francis Hagstotz (Philadelphia, PA). His God-daughter Teresa Lynn Haynes, In addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Eugene’s life celebration gathering on Saturday, November 12, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 236 E. Main St., Maple Shade, from 10 – 11 am. His funeral Mass will begin at 11 am. Inurnment at a later date in NJ Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Eugene’s name may be made to a The American Cancer Society.
