Evelyn S. Armshire's Obituary
Evelyn S. Armshire, age 97 years, Fort Myers, FL, previously of Pemberton, NJ, passed away on May 23, 2014.
Born in New York City on August 23, 1916 to the late Fred and Ella Schlosser. She grew up in Rochelle Park, NJ. She graduated from Hackensack HS and Trenton Normal School (now College of NJ) at the age of 18. She taught at Little Red Schoolhouse in Browns Mills. She raised her two children Ellen and Jay while working side by side with her husband publishing the Times Advertiser. They founded TAPCO. Evelyn served as a County Committeewoman, was active in the Pemberton Borough Republican Club, PTA, Girl Scouts, and especially proud of being the President of the Board of Ed., overseeing the building of Pemberton Borough Elem. School.
They enjoyed their well-deserved retirement in Fort Myers, FL for a short time until Jack’s passing. Eve continued her winter stays in FL volunteering in local schools til her 95th year. She also enjoyed summers at her bayfront home on Barnegat Bay that was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. Eve then resided at Brightview Mount Laurel in her 98th year.
Evelyn was predeceased by her loving husband of 46 years, Jack D. Armshire, and her parents, Frederick and Ella Schlosser. She is survived by her loving family: daughter, Ellen Moss (Bob) of Mount Laurel, son, Jay Armshire (Debra) of Bayville, grandchildren, Terri Chase (Calvin) of Cape Coral, FL, Denise Brown (William) of Marlton, Jacquelyn Sztenderowicz (Christopher) of Cinnaminson, great-grandchildren, Dr. Brittany and Brian Brown, Nicholas and Chelsea Chase, and Brooke, Ava Lynn, Mia, and Zoe Sztenderowicz, sister Audrey Hansen of Rochelle Park, nephews, Bruce and Glenn Hansen, and Barbara Thomas.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Evelyn’s life celebration and visitation on Wednesday, May 28, from 10 am – 11 am at Asbury United Methodist Church, Route 130 N. and Andover Rd., Cinnaminson. Prayer service will begin at 11 am. Interment private. Evelyn’s family suggests donations to American Cancer Society, P.O.
