Francis J. Fry's Obituary
Francis “Frank” J. Fry, 94, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. Born on July 8, 1931, he grew up in Philadelphia, PA. An avid reader with a quick, dry wit, Frank approached life with curiosity and a sense of humor.
Frank was the devoted husband of the late Mary Fry (née McMenamin), who passed away in 2013; the two shared a love of music, mystery novels, and time spent with friends and family. Together, they raised four children: Phylis Tomasello (Dave Tomasello), Barbara Fry, Nancy Ryan (Fry), and the late Paul Fry (Joy Herren Fry). In addition to being a beloved father, Frank was the cherished grandfather of John Tomasello, Lauren Boettcher (Zac Boettcher), Lisa Ryan, Kaley Ryan, and Lydia Hasko (Brandon Hasko).
Frank studied at La Salle University and proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1949–1952 during the Korean War. Following his service, he built a career with the federal government, working in procurement at the Philadelphia Naval Yard until his retirement.
From his school years, the army, and forward, Frank made long-lasting friendships that he valued and maintained. For many summers, he tended a backyard garden, sharing a bounty of Jersey tomatoes with neighbors, friends, and family. He enjoyed cheering on the Phillies and the Eagles, as well as college basketball and football. Frank lived with joy and gratitude for life’s everyday pleasures, with generous support for others, and with deep love for those closest to him.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank’s name may be made to The American Heart Association.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Frank's visitation on Thursday, December 4th, 2025, from 1pm - 2pm, followed by a memorial ceremony at 2pm in Givnish Funeral Home, located at 600 E. Main Street, Maple Shade, NJ, 08052.
Interment will be held privately.
