Francis Joseph Savarese Jr.'s Obituary
Francis Savarese, known to his family as Fran and to his friends Frank, passed away peacefully on January 11th at the age of 76. Born in Brooklyn on February 24, 1949. A proud lifelong New York sports fan, Frank found great enjoyment in watching his teams play. Whether it was a big game or his favorite television show, Law & Order, there was always something familiar playing in the background of his home.
In 1967, Frank enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, later continuing his service in the Marine Reserves. After his honorable discharge in 1972, he began a successful career as a bond trader on Wall Street, a profession he remained dedicated to for nearly three decades.
In 1973, Frank married Carol (McKenna), and together they raised two daughters, Allison and Melissa, whom he lovingly referred to as “my girls.” Their life together was cut short when Carol passed away unexpectedly in 1996, a loss Frank carried with him always.
Frank had a deep love for cooking and spent countless hours in the kitchen, his favorite place to be. He took great pride in preparing elaborate platters and trays of Italian food, often bringing people together through meals made with care and generosity.
Family was the center of Frank’s life. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Allison and Michael, and Melissa and Jonathan. He was a devoted and loving grandfather to Jonathan, Tessa, Juliette, and Matthew, who were truly his world. Nothing brought him greater joy than time spent with his grandchildren—talking basketball with the boys, soccer and track with the girls, and sharing laughter through his playful, goofy spirit.
He took genuine pleasure in talking with everyone, and everyone quickly became his friend. As soon as he met you he would refer to you as ‘my friend’. Whether reconnecting with lifelong companions or striking up conversations with new acquaintances, he made people feel known, valued, and welcomed.
Relatives and friends are invited to Frank’s Life Celebration Monday, January 19th at Givnish’s of Marlton starting 1:00pm with services at 3:00PM.
