Gabriel J. Pilla Sr.'s Obituary
Gabriel Joseph Pilla Sr., of Pennsauken, passed away with family by his side on June 26, 2024, he was 85 years old.
He was born in Philadelphia, PA on November 19, 1938, to the late Francis and Rosina Pilla.
Gabe was a brilliant chemist, a passionate member of the United States Coast Guard, and a hardworking, self-taught mechanic. However, there was nothing Gabe adored more than his family. He loved to spend time with his family in the Poconos and take many trips and adventures with his beloved Marian. Gabe was an avid Phillies fan and bingo player, but there was nothing he enjoyed more than attending his kid’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, activities, and school functions. He was their biggest fan. Gabe maintained a beautiful garden every year and enjoyed the fruits of his labor. Gabe was an active member of Saint Peter’s Roman Catholic Church in Merchantville, NJ. In every phase of his life, he made many great friends who became like family. Gabe touched the lives of every person he encountered, and he will be greatly missed by all.
Gabriel was proceeded in death by his lovely wife of 58 years, Marian Pilla. He is survived by his loving children, Cynthia Deeb and Gabriel J. Pilla, Jr. (Joann); his grandchildren, Eric M. Schonewolf, Gabriel J. Pilla III, Lauren E. Pilla, Demetria M. Silvera (Justin), Michael C. Pilla and Natalie A. Deeb; great granddaughter, Emilia Marian Schonewolf, Drayson Isaiah Silvera, Naomi Michalla Silvera and Alora Angelina Silvera; brother, Richard P. Pilla and sister Arlene R. Dennis (Gary). He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and other dear family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Gabriel’s life celebration gathering at Givnish of Cinnaminson, 1200 Route 130 N., on Monday morning, July 1st, from 9am – 12pm, followed by entombment in Calvary Mausoleum, Route 70 in Cherry Hill.
