I have many years of memories of Gary since I graduated with him and he married, my sister Pam. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was like a mother hen to his children when they were growing up, especially when they were sick.
He was thrilled with his grandchildren, Lyric and Lacey and couldn't wait until he could see them. He prepared for their visits getting special toys for them when they arrived. He was so happy to have the time to spend with them. He was so pleased when Frankie Jeanne was born and even in his weakest moments delighted in seeing her.
He was extremely generous, financially and with his time. He often helped his nieces and nephews with home improvements and would not accept any compensation for it. He was quick to help but not quick to ask for help.
He made it possible for his mother-in-law to stay in her own home which was perilous to his own health and stayed with her until he no longer could. He always came home with treats for her and they often dined out together.
He was very appreciative of any acts of kindness and outwardly expressed his love to those around. I will miss not being together for holidays, special occasions or dining out. I regret that I never did express the appreciation he so deserved.
