Gary Warren Wilson's Obituary
Commander Gary W. Wilson US Navy (Ret.) died July 15, 2022 in Moorestown, NJ at the age of 80.
He entered the military from Endwell, New York. He was the son of Ray and Anna Wilson. CDR Wilson graduated from the United States Naval Academy and the U. S. Navy Post Graduate School, Monterrey, CA with a Masters Degree in Physical Oceanography. Wilson was a career Surface Warfare Officer with a very distinguished decorated career, to include: the award of the Bronze Star Medal with Combat V, multiple Meritorious Service Medals, Combat Action Ribbons, Navy Unit Commendations -two awards, Navy Expeditionary Medals, the Vietnam Service Medal with RV with Silver Star-5 awards, A RV Metorious Service Citation (Gallantry Cross First Class).
Wilson served multiple tours of duty to include CINCLANT CINCPAC, the Philippines, Yankee Station at sea as well as shore assignments within RVN. Wilson also served as the O.I.C Naval Operations Research Lab., Hamilton, Bermuda. He retired with 25 years of Naval Service and was a Senior Engineer of the Lockheed Martin Corporation, Moorestown, NJ.
He was married to Patricia Leora Maquire, of Norwood, MA for 54 years, and is survived by his wife and many nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Givnish of Maple Shade, 600 East Main Street, on Wednesday July 20th from 2pm to 3pm, where a prayer service will begin at 3 pm followed by refreshments.
Burial will be private at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
