Gerald S. Buckley passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 1, 2021 at Spring Hills in Cherry Hill, NJ. Born in Philadelphia to Albert Stanley and Ruth M. Buckley, Jerry was 87 years old. He was a resident of Cinnaminson from 1976 to 1996.
Beloved husband of 48 years to the late Virginia Anne Buckley. Loving father of Virginia (John) Blaskovich and Amy Malone. Cherished Pop to Kyle, Shane, Justin and Emily Blaskovich and Madelynn and Ryan Malone.
Brother of Betty Jane Hoffmann and brother-in-law of Jean Kennedy.
Gerald proudly served his country in the US Army. He was employed as a certified electrical contractor and retired as Director of Transportation for SEPTA. He was employed over 45 years with SEPTA.
He was a member of the Orient Lodge No. 289, F. & A.M. of Philadelphia PA.
As an adolescent Jerry lived in Millville, it was then he became an animal lover, after having dogs, a cat, monkeys, a rooster and chickens.
Jerry’s best days were taking random rides to the shore with his wife on any given day- grabbing some pizza from Mac & Manco pizza and sitting on the boardwalk. The bigger adventures were the many trips to Walt Disney World over the years- as a young father, and later as a grandfather. He also enjoyed an annual visit to NYC with the family to see The Christmas Show at Radio City Music Hall, and having dinner with his Manhattans at Rockefeller Center. Virginia Beach was another favorite of his- to spend time with family and joy riding on the Seadoo- he loved being on the water. He was known for his love of cars, especially his “hobby” of picking what color his next Cadillac would be! Then came the grandchildren - and they filled him with pride and joy and cherished every moment with them. No matter what stage in his life, spending time with family was his most precious time of all.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, August 6th from 9-10 a.m. at Givnish of Cinnaminson 1200 Route 130 North.
His graveside services will follow 11 a.m. at Oakland Cemetery in Philadelphia.
