Born and raised in Philadelphia, Gerrie was the daughter of Ida and William Falkowski. After skipping two grades, Gerrie graduated from Kensington High School. After graduating, she had a budding career as a singer and dabbled in modeling before falling and love and raising a very large family with her dear husband, John. Gerrie later worked as an administrative manager, lastly for Woods Services in Langhorne, before retiring. She spent her retirement as an eldercare volunteer and singing with the Merrytones, traveling and spending time with her beloved children and grandchildren. She was a devoted Catholic and spent time in daily prayer and reading scripture.
Gerrie had fond memories of her life in Edgewater Park, NJ. Here, she and John enjoyed a vibrant social life, often entertaining in their home, which was the center attraction for the whole neighborhood. Gerrie was a support to her many friends, as they enjoyed coffee together at her kitchen table. To the sheer delight of her family and all in attendance, Gerrie sang at each of her children’s weddings. Gerrie had a tremendous respect for life, teaching her children to treat all people with the same respect and kindness.
As the matriarch of her large family, Geraldine was a woman of tremendous strength of mind, spirit and body and even in the face illness, tragedies and hardships, she triumphed. She was unfaltering in her love for her children and was the pinnacle of unconditional love and support by which her children and grandchildren will forever measure themselves. She loved deeply and forgave easily and had the purest of hearts. She lived each day of her life praising the Lord and with gratitude for her greatest blessing – her family. And her family will live each day of their lives thankful for the blessing she was to them.
