Geraldine M. Slavin's Obituary
Geraldine M. Slavin, 89, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025. Born on September 20, 1936, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Sophie Okonski.
Geraldine was the devoted wife of Joseph Slavin, whom she married in 1957 and shared a loving marriage with until his passing in 2011. She was a dear sister to Dolores Sosnowski (late Joseph) and was predeceased by her siblings Rose Ryan (Jim), Frances Opperman (Tom), and John Okonski.
She will be lovingly remembered by June Busch (godmother), and her many nieces and nephews: John Ryan (Barbara), Rosemarie Ryan (Dan), Kate Sosnowski, Joseph Sosnowski (Diana), Bethanne Schlitt (John), Gerard Slavin (late Linda), Diane Nelson (Kenneth), William Slavin (Elaine), Joseph Slavin (Rebecca), as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Gerry grew up in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia, lived in various places throughout her life, and later retired to New Port Richey, Florida. In her younger years, Gerry and Joe enjoyed racing cars and sailing together. She had a true talent for sewing, embroidery, and took great pride in making curtains and clothing for herself and others. Gerry was known for being smart, caring, generous, and having a wonderful sense of humor.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, January 7th, at St. Joan of Arc Church, 100 Willow Bend Road, Marlton, NJ, from 10:00–11:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerry’s memory may be made to Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice.
