Grace L. Chappell's Obituary
Grace Chappell, a cherished resident of Delran, NJ, passed away peacefully in her home with family by her side on July 18th, 2024. She lived a long fulfilling 89 years of life, which is truly a blessing. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. A true friend and confidant. A soft-spoken woman, full of compassion for others.
She was born on September 25th, 1934, in Philadelphia, PA to John L. Lundgren Jr. and Edna Lundgren (nee Wylie).
Grace dedicated many years of her career as an Administrative Assistant at O&S Research Company in Riverton, NJ, where her organizational skills and dedication made a significant impact.
She was a tremendous help to the local Scouting programs: she provided lunch for the Scouts, leaders, and parents working Troop 17's newspaper drives. She was a seamstress, a creator of beautiful needle point, cross stitch, crocheting and loved her Sunday morning crosswords. She loved hemming and sewing emblems on the uniforms of her husband and children, but also making three sets of banners for local Order of the Arrow ceremonies. She was generous, kind and giving. . Reading was another passion of hers. She loved to read and did so almost daily. She was an awesome cook, baker and preserves maker. And she was so much more.
Grace was known for her warmth, generosity, and love for her family and friends. She was the beloved wife of the late William H. Chappell Jr.; loving mother to Robert (Melanie), Douglas (Lorrie), Susan Lynn (Deceased), Terrie (Stephen), Stephen (Maryanne), and Tricia (Craig). Cherished grandmother to Lea (Steve), Amanda (Kathleen), Lucas (Michael), Hannah (Collin) and Eric; adored great-grandmother to Skylar. Grace was the sister of John L. Lundgren III (Deceased). Cousin to Gail Monachello (John), Guy Banks. Long time friend of Ed DeFonzo and his late wife Sally. Dear, lifelong friend of Joan Dortort, Lila Coddington, Marge Gray, Gert Fink, Doris Kallenbach, and Evelyn Wallace all from Sorority who met regularly once a month for as long as they were able to.
Her kindness and love will be deeply missed by many other family members and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing at Givnish of Cinnaminson on Friday July 26th, 2024, from 10:30am until 12:00 pm with service to follow, located at 1200 Route 130 North Cinnaminson, NJ 08077.
