Harry T. Cassidy's Obituary
Harry T. Cassidy, of Cherry Hill, formerly of Maple Shade, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2019. Harry was 92 years old.
Harry was born and raised in West Philadelphia. He was a proud graduate of St Thomas Moore High School and captain of their swim team. He enlisted in the US army Air Corp in 1945 upon his graduation from High School. After his discharge he married Edith in October, 1948. He was recalled to active military duty in 1950. During his 26 years of service he served in the Occupation of Japan, the Korean War and the Vietnam conflict. During his time in the US Air Force he received numerous citations and awards including the World War II Victory Ribbon, Air Medal, and the Air Force Commendation medal for the development of techniques for the safe transportations of nuclear weapons.
After his retirement from the Air Force he served as a US Immigration and Naturalization Agent in Newark NJ. After he finally retired from the working world he and Edith loved to travel, take care of their grandchildren and he was an active member of the Mt. Holly Elks Lodge. They moved to Florida in 1986 and returned to New Jersey in 2002. He was always a devoted father and supportive husband and friend to his peers and the friends of his children. He was also a surrogate father to his nieces.
Harry was the beloved husband of the late Edith (nee Leonard) for 65 years. Loving father of Harry T. Cassidy Jr. (Cheryl) and Anne E. Cassidy (Edward Jefferson). Dear grandfather of Kathleen Cassidy (Ian Shapiro), Matthew Cassidy (Christine), and Brynne Cassidy. Great grandfather of Charles Shapiro, William Shapiro, and Sawyer Cassidy.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, April 11, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 236 E. Main St., Maple Shade, from 10 am – 11 am. His funeral Mass will begin at 11 am. Inurnment will be private at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown, NJ.
