Harry Richard Louie's Obituary
Harry Richard Louie, 94, of Cranford, NJ passed away peacefully on November 24, 2022 at the Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains, NJ.
Born January 1, 1928, in Philadelphia, Harry was the son of Wi Yip and Jung Shee Louie and grew up with his eight siblings William, Robert, Jane, Betty, Mary, Eleanor, Helen and Samuel. He graduated from Central High School in 1944 and Drexel University in 1948. Following graduation he went to China to teach industrial science. He married his beloved wife, Wai Lan “Jane” Ling, in 1952 in Hong Kong and returned to Philadelphia’s Chinatown to start their family and his career as an electrical engineer with Philadelphia Electric Company. As a young man, he enjoyed playing baseball, winning a batting championship in Hong Kong. He was a life long Phillies fan attending many games. The family moved to Cinnaminson, New Jersey in 1962 where Harry resided until last year. He enjoyed sponsoring frequent family reunions.
Harry is survived by his three children Peter (Lilian), Phillip (Elizabeth), and Daniel, five grandchildren, Bryan, David, Kyle, Rachael (Stephen Gelber) and Sarah, and by brothers-in-law Harry Jung, Kuen Ling (Anita), and Yuen Ling (Doreen) and many nieces and nephews. Harry recently welcomed adopted grandchildren Andrezza (Miguel Santos Gomez) and Andre. Harry was predeceased by his wife, Jane, and two sons, Raymond and Jerome.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Givnish of Cinnaminson, 1200 Route 130 N on Saturday, December 17th from 11 AM until 12 PM. His prayer service will begin at 12 PM followed by interment in Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Harry’s memory to Center For Hope Hospice & Pallative Care at 1900 Raritan Road, Scotch Plains, NJ 07076.
