Heidi J. Karn's Obituary
Heidi J. Karn (nee Esslinger) passed away peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2025 at the age of 86 surrounded by her family. Born in Columbus, Wisconsin in November of 1938, Heidi was raised in Hartford, Wisconsin. She graduated from Hartford Union High School in 1956 and met the love of her life Lyle Karn later that year. They were married in November of 1958 and were together for 65 years. During that time, they lived and made friends around the country including Brownsville, TX; Hoffman Estates, IL; Alexandra, VA; and ultimately Cherry Hill, NJ for 45 years. She loved cooking, gardening, needle work, her bowling league and spending time with her friends and family.
Heidi was the loving mother of three children and their spouses: Kristine Karn & Gary Coates, Kelly Karn & Joseph Rainer and Eric & Amy Karn. Heidi was also the beloved grandmother to eight grandchildren and five of their spouses: Sara Rainer & Paul Kennealy, Kathryn Coates & Tom Phillips, Joseph & Brianna Rainer, Emily Coates & Tyler Lowy, Austin & Stephanie Rainer, Gary Coates, Maxwell Karn, and Jackson Karn. In addition she had ten great-grandchildren: Joey, Conner, Lyle, Tommy, Charlie, Heidi, Sammy, Ben, Atticus and Adolin. They will all miss her laugh, her creativity, sage advice and deep abiding love for her family.
Heidi is predeceased by her parents, Della Indermuehle and Emil Esslinger. She is survived by her siblings, Bill Esslinger (Pat), Marlene Hughes (Bob), Sandy Smith (late George), and two sisters in-law, Mary Sigrist and Carole Karn, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and an abundance of friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, February 13th from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at Givnish of Cinnaminson 1200 Route 130 North. A remembrance ceremony will begin at 11:30 am. Interment will be private.
