Henry immigrated to the United States at the age of 16, bravely stowing away on a ship in search of a better life. He spent 11 months on Ellis Island until a kind-hearted family from Camden, NJ, sponsored him, offering him a job in their furniture store. His hard work and determination soon saw him moving to a store in Westmont, where he honed his skills and business acumen. Eventually, he realized his American dream by opening his own furniture store on Main Street in Maple Shade, NJ.
It was in Camden that Henry met the love of his life, Mary, at a roller skating rink. They shared a deep and enduring love, marrying and spending 64 wonderful years together until her passing. Their love story was an inspiration to all who knew them.
Henry served his country with pride and honor, enlisting in the Army where he served in the 82nd Airborne and US Army Corps of Engineers. He received several service medals and his service was marked by bravery and dedication, traits he carried with him throughout his life.
In his downtime, Henry found joy in simple pleasures. He was often found working outside in his yard. Henry was an avid fisherman and cherished his trips to Florida, where he could relax and enjoy the beauty of nature.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help of Maple Shade on Monday, July 8th, from 10:00-11:00am with a Mass beginning at 11:00am.
