Hildarine Smith Lowe's Obituary
Hildarine Smith Lowe was born in Bocas Del Toro, Panama on May 18, 1928. She was the daughter of Icilda Lowe and George Bernard. Hildarine (Tia) spent her childhood in Bocas Del Toro and later migrated to Colon with her parents the late Icilda Lowe and George Bernard. In 1964 Tia migrated to the United States where she settled in Brooklyn. Even though she missed her family in Panama, she worked hard to generate greater opportunities for them. Tia was her happiest during family gatherings. Her joy for life and the people within it was truly a blessing. Tia enjoyed travel, especially cruises and bus trips across the country. She managed to combine her love of travel with family, by taking her grandchildren with her on vacations.
In the mid 1960's, she began working at Brookdale Hospital, where she worked for
29 years. She retired in August 1993. As life Progressed, Tia moved to Willingboro, NJ after retirement. A few of Tia's favorite pastimes were word puzzles (she always had them either next to her chair, next to her bed, or in her bag).
She also enjoyed card games, dancing, cooking, pajama parties, swimming, playing dominoes, and listening to Soca and Salsa music, and she was always full of jokes.
Left to cherish her memories is her sisters Marian & Mercedes Robinson, her son Carlos Grenald, daughter Gilda Butcher, her nephew/godson Jorge (Gap) Jones, her niece Patricia Ford McLeod and her nephew Luis A. Joseph. Her Grandchildren Reynaldo, Carlos, Tamara, Janiell, Joel and Kevin. 14 Great Grandchildren, 2 goddaughters, her great nieces and nephews Ayesha, Yasser, Anthony, David, Nailah and Cyre, and extended family and friends. She leaves a legacy of love and laughter. She was an outstanding and loving mother to her children and made many sacrifices to build the best life possible for both her children and family.
