Jack A. Schweitzer's Obituary
Remembering Jack with Love… Jack Allan Schweitzer, 87, of Burlington, NJ, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at home. Born on November 30, 1936, in Shillington, PA, he was the son of the late Freeland H. & Margaret H. (Borry) Schweitzer. Jack was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy M. (Stoudt) Schweitzer.
Jack is survived by his wife, Dorothy A. (Sichler) Schweitzer; his children, Karla S. Farrell, Amy S. Luking and her husband Robert Luking, Matthew A. Schweitzer and his wife Paige Gardner; and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by members of the blended family: Cheryl Joyce and her fiancé Terry York, Joseph Pawlicki and his wife Suzanne Etheridge, Debra Pawlicki, and Richard Pawlicki, along with six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Jack was a 1954 graduate of Gov. Mifflin High School and a 1959 graduate of Albright College and Pennsylvania State University, receiving two Bachelor of Science Degrees in Civil Engineering. Jack joined the U.S. Navy following graduation and served as a Lieutenant, working as the Public Works Director at bases in North Carolina and Maine. Following his military service Jack worked for American Water Company in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and then the corporate office in Voorhees, NJ, as a systems planner until his retirement in 1998. Jack was a registered Professional Engineer in PA, NJ, and KY, and a registered surveyor in PA.
After retirement, Jack volunteered in the community and his church as a home handyman. He was an accomplished woodworker, building furniture and toys for his family and friends. Jack loved the beach and ocean, enjoyed sailing on the Delaware River, skiing in Vermont, large family gatherings and traveling with his wife and family.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at the Cedar Grove Cemetery, N. Broad Street, Adamstown, PA 19501.
