Jae Sun Moon's Obituary
Jae Sun Moon, of Willingboro, NJ, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Incheon, South Korea, Jae Sun was the son of the late Kwang Sik Moon and Hwa Boon Kim. He proudly served in the South Korean military before beginning his career as a Chinese language teacher. Education was deeply important to him, and he remained proud of being a college graduate throughout his life.
Jae Sun immigrated to the United States in search of new opportunities and a better future for his family. He first worked as a welder and, through perseverance and hard work, eventually opened Moon’s Grocery in Camden, NJ, with his wife, Eul Nyu (Oh). Together, they built a small business rooted in community, service, and dedication.
In his youth, Jae Sun was a talented pitcher, a passion that stayed with him throughout his life. He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan, always cheering on his favorite team with enthusiasm and pride.
Jae Sun was the beloved husband of Eul Nyu; the devoted father of Sung Moon (Minnie Yadava), Soo Young Moon, and Elisa Lomon (Kinamo); and the cherished grandfather of Lauryn Lomon, Shaan Moon, Taran Moon, and Leah Lomon.
Known for his warm, talkative nature, Jae Sun could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. He had a gift for making people feel seen and welcomed. In retirement, he found peace in his garden and took joy in simply being outdoors. Above all, he was loyal and supportive of his family.
A celebration of life for Jae Sun will be held privately for family and close friends on his birthday, July 6th. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you honor his memory by spending time with loved ones, enjoying a quiet moment outdoors, or planting a tree just as he loved to do.
