James D. Ghegan's Obituary
James D. Ghegan passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Camden to Robert W. and Elizabeth D. (nee Gorman), Jim was 73 years old. Predeceased by his sister Sue (Jim) Moorhouse. He was a resident of Shamong for the last 40 years and formerly lived in Pennsauken. Beloved husband of 49 years to Cecilia M. (nee McCann). Loving father of Cecilia (Joel) Cox, Colleen (Craig) Sharkey and James (Colleen) Ghegan, Jr. Brother of Bob (Betty) Ghegan, Chuck (Dawn) Ghegan and Kathy (Dom) D’Alessandro. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Jim started his career at Oakdale Printing Company in 1970; becoming part of management in 1978, then President in 1999. He was a devoted husband and a wonderful partner, as well as a proud father and loving Pop Pop. He was also a passionate Philadelphia sports fan, cheering faithfully for the Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers. Jim cherished time on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, where he enjoyed hunting deer and waterfowl and taking in the quiet beauty of the outdoors. He also found relaxation and friendship on the golf course. His love of the water began in childhood, with summers spent in Harvey Cedars, LBI and continued with annual trips to Cape Hatteras National Seashore, where he found joy in fishing, boating, and simply being at the beach. Above all, Jim found his greatest happiness in his five grandchildren—Emma, Austin, Grayson, JR, and Luke—attending as many of their baseball, lacrosse, basketball, football, and soccer games as possible. They truly lit up his world, and his pride in them was evident to all. Jim’s warmth, unwavering support, and deep love for his family and friends left an everlasting impression on everyone who knew him.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday June 10th from 8:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at Givnish of Marlton 398 East Main Street.
Jim’s Funeral Mass will follow 12 p.m. at St. Mary of the Lakes Church 40 Jackson Road Medford, NJ
