James F. Sheerin's Obituary
James F. Sheerin passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Samaritan Hospice in Voorhees with his family by his side. Born in Philadelphia to the late Catherine Sheerin and a graduate of West Catholic in Philadelphia. Jim was 76 years old. He was a resident of Cinnaminson. Jim was an electrician by trade and a member of Local Union 98 IBEW of Philadelphia where he worked on projects at Salem Power Plant, University of Pennsylvania and Harrah’s. He proudly served his country in the US Coast Guard.
As a younger man Jim loved fast cars and racing his Pontiac GTO on Delaware Avenue. As a family man Jim enjoyed fishing, coaching baseball, and watching the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. He enjoyed traveling with Kathy to Aruba, Mexico and Dominican Republic where they experienced local cultures and cold drinks. Summers and holidays were often filled with soccer tournaments and watching his children enjoy a sport he grew to love. Above all else Jim loved his family and was thankful he was able to provide a roof over their head, a swimming pool in the backyard and joyful memories to last a lifetime.
Beloved husband of 45 years to Kathleen M. (nee Melchiorre). Loving father of Anthony (Jamie) Sheerin, Michelle (Naoji) Moriuchi and Paul Sheerin. Cherished grandfather of Carter, Noah, Mina, Naomi, Kali, and Madison. Also, surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Jim is predeceased by his three siblings; Francis X. Sheerin, John Sheerin and Charles Sheerin Jr.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, September 25th, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Givnish of Cinnaminson 1200 Route 130 North. His Funeral Mass will follow 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church. Interment, with Military Honors, will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan Hospice or the Coast Guard Foundation.
