James Bernard Stearley's Obituary
James (Jim) Stearley, 83, of Marlton, NJ, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2023. Born on July 17, 1940, in Nebraska to the late Bernard and Dorothy Stearley. He was a devoted husband to Ginny Stearley (nee Neitzel) and loving Father to David Stearley (Kathy), John Stearley, Mark Stearley (Stephanie), and Jennifer Davis (Jimmy). A proud Grandfather to Kyle Stearley, Sarah Stearley, Skylar Stearley, Makenna Stearley, Brynn Davis, and Eva Davis. A Brother to Bob Stearley (Diane) and Kathy Stearley.
Jim had a 50+ year career in the food service industry, leading large venue operations all over the country. Local venues and corporations would include Garden State Park Racetrack, Aramark, and Comcast. In his free time, Jim enjoyed building, refurbishing, and sailing wooden antique boats. He and his wife were members of the Tom’s River Yacht Club for many years, and they spent time racing several types of sailboats on Barnegat Bay. During the time they lived in California, before and after retirement, Jim and Ginny enjoyed sailing on the San Francisco Bay and exploring Northern California together. In 2015, he and Ginny moved back to the East Coast to spend time with their daughter, Jennifer, and her family. Additional hobbies included reading, watching movies, dining out and spending time with family and friends.
Jim will be missed by many other relatives and friends.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at Givnish of Marlton, 398 East Main Street, on Monday, August 7th from 10:00am to 12:00pm with a life celebration service beginning at 12:00pm.
