Jane Spence Miller Acaster's Obituary
Jane Spence Miller Acaster, of Moorestown, NJ, previously of Saddle River NJ, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on April 19, 2024. Born in Parkersburg, WV to the late Benjamin Warren and Edna (nee Wood) Miller, she was 97 years old.
Jane was the beloved wife of the late David Acaster; loving mother of Benjamin Acaster (Nancy Schuetz) of Jupiter, FL and Ceecy Ringwood (Jack) of Moorestown, NJ; former mother-in-law of Sharon Basile Acaster; cherished grandmother of Ashley Acaster Spiegel (Danny), Allie Acaster, David Ringwood, the late Ned Ringwood, and Ben Ringwood (Bistiat Alemu); great grandmother of Brynlee Spiegel; dear sister of the late Jacqueline Cauthorn and loving aunt to Terry Cauthorn.
Jane was a faithful member of the Episcopal Church, a member of the DAR, longtime member of the Junior League, and an enthusiastic member of the Saddle River garden club. Her creativity toward and nurturing of her gardens carried into all realms of her life.
“Janey” to all who knew her well, “Izzer” to her adored late husband David, and “Jay-Jay” to her grandchildren, Jane was always the epitome of loving fun and joy. From her childhood in Parkersburg and Vienna, West Virginia through her years at St Timothy’s boarding school, Catonsville, MD and Finch Junior College in New York City, she radiated a love of life and fun that was contagious. Post college found her returning home to live and periodically travel with her mother to Palm Beach. All that changed once she met a dashing gentleman named David who swept her off her feet and to the altar. From there she started her married life in New Orleans, LA, where she and David started a family. Always adaptable, Janey made the most loving of homes wherever they moved, from New Orleans to Stamford CT, Ramsey NJ, Niagara- on-the Lake, Ontario, and ultimately to Saddle River, NJ.
She and David took great pleasure in adventurous travels after their years of child raising and work. Their adventures took them to Africa, Europe, Asia, and once David discovered scuba diving, to many remote and unspoiled parts of the world. They adored each other and exploring the world, never taking for granted their time together. Soon, children, grandchildren, and extended family were included in their lovely travel experiences. Nothing made them happier than to share their exciting adventures with their family.
And nothing made Jane happier than being with her family. She truly made holidays magical, whether it was cooking the most delectable dinner, picking out the biggest possible Christmas tree that might well measure longer in width than in height, or establishing the “Old Acres Open” ping pong tournament tradition that brought children and grandchildren together in “fierce” competition. And when it was your birthday, nobody could make you feel more special and adored.
Jane passed away on her beloved David’s birthday. She had a beautiful long life, but it was finally time to celebrate with “Izzer” again.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Trinity Episcopal Church, 207 W. Main Street in Moorestown, on Wednesday, May 1st beginning at 11:00 am. A service will begin at 12:00 pm. Interment will be private.
