Hello Brian and other family members,
There is one word that defines my experiences with you mother and that's "laughter". I really got to know her and your dad on those camping trips when you were a child. Roy and your father always joked with each other and your mom always chimed in siding with your father.
Likewise, when she was at holiday dinners and other occasions at Pat's there was always something to laugh about. There was always a differing view on politics but that never dimmed the fun and friendship at the table.
The best thing I remember about your mom was a camping trip in Conway, NH. She brought along a huge tent. When I say huge, think of the Plaza Hotel. Well both Roy and your grandfather thought they were champion campers and could pitch the tent in a simple one, two, three. I don't which one started but after he fell in defeat the other tried. He too was not able to accomplish the task. But Janet came to the rescue; she must of had the blue prints in the back of mind and with an instant recall the tent was standing with its many suites inside.
I suggest that you take some time and write down your memories of times together with your mom and dad while they're still fresh in your memory. And when you look at he/rtheir pictures with some tears brewing in your eyes pick up the document and cherish those times and have a good laugh and a warm feeling in your heart.
I haven't seen much of her in the last few years due to her health issues, but happy to only know the fun times we had together.
Love,
Wayne Colbeck
