Janice Pedersen's Obituary
Janice Pedersen, of Moorestown, NJ, passed away on May 26th, 2026, at the age of 63.
Born on January 1st, 1963, in Philadelphia, PA, Janice was the daughter of the late Joseph and Claire (nee Hagan) Scannapieco. She was the beloved sister of Joe and Carol.
Growing up, Janice spent much of her childhood with her siblings, making memories and going on adventures from sunrise until sunset, always knowing it was time to come home when the streetlights came on. Her bond with her siblings and friends stayed strong and close and was always checking in on friends and family with a thoughtful call or text. She later attended Archbishop Ryan High School and graduated with the Class of 1981. After high school, Janice continued her education at Bucks County Community College.
During those years, she met the love of her life and best friend, Gregory. Introduced through mutual friends, the two instantly connected while bonding over a case of beer. Together, they enjoyed driving around in Greg’s GTO, hiking, and fishing at local lakes. From the very beginning, it was Janice and Greg against the world. The couple married on March 11th, 1989, and shared 37 loving years together.
As newlyweds, Janice and Greg dreamed of building a family and sharing the love, wisdom, and values they had learned throughout their lives. Their dream became a reality when they welcomed their three children into the world: Corey, Tyler, and Sierra.
Janice truly loved being a mother. She supported her children in every activity they pursued and created countless lasting memories with them over the years. Whether it was family board game nights with rules and game strategies that were always questioned, to the countless Harry Potter movie marathons that the family can quote by heart, or trips to the shore for the yearly NYE birthday celebrations or long nights drinking with friends and family enjoying seafood and crammed into our favorite hangout and undersized gazebo, she made any location feel like home and special.
Later in life, Janice became “Nonna” to her first grandson, Declan, a role she cherished deeply. She looked forward to every visit, especially the moments spent reading books, playing together, and simply enjoying time with him. Family meant everything to Janice, and she treasured every opportunity to be together.
When she wasn’t spending time with family, Janice loved being outdoors. She enjoyed relaxing in her backyard with her family and spending time with the many beloved dogs she cared for throughout the years, starting with Tasha & Dude with the newer additions of grand-doggos Groot, Sonny, Marty, and Bailey. Among the family pets she was the mother of all backyard creatures. Her kind heart had no bounds as she befriended the neighbors squirrels and birds by hand feeding them treats off the deck. She also loved listening to David Bowie and Stevie Nicks.
Janice will be deeply missed for her strong, loving, and charismatic spirit, as well as the unwavering love she gave to her family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Janice’s visitation on Saturday, June 6th, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Givnish Funeral Homes, 600 E. Main Street, Maple Shade, NJ 08052. A celebration of life will follow at 12:00 p.m.
Interment will be held privately.
