Jean M. Gardner's Obituary
Jean M. Gardner (nee Tasch) died peacefully on December 24, 2025, at Woodbury Mews in Woodbury, with her devoted husband by her side. Born in Maple Shade, New Jersey, to the late Jacob and Marie E. (nee Campbell) Tasch, Jean was 95 years old.
Jean was a longtime resident of Cinnaminson for over 40 years before moving to Woodbury. She and her husband also enjoyed summers in Margate, New Jersey, where they created many cherished memories.
Although Jean and her husband, Bob, had no children of their own, they touched the lives of countless families. Affectionately known as “Aunt Jean” and “Uncle Bob,” they were beloved figures not only to their family, but to their extended circle of friends and loved ones as well.
Jean was a graduate of Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, Class of 1944, and Camden Catholic High School, Class of 1948. During her years at Camden Catholic, Jean took center stage, earning the starring role in the school’s high-school play. After graduating from Camden Catholic (in Camden) Jean sang for 15 years with Harry Uber’s 10 piece dance band primarily every Friday night at the Oaklyn Dancette Ballroom and at other Dance halls throughout the Delaware Valley including the Steel Pier.
Jean was employed as a clerk with New Jersey Bell in Pennsauken and later serving as a secretary at St. Charles Borromeo School in Cinnaminson.
Jean and Bob were married in 1957 and shared 68 wonderful years together, marked by love, devotion, and companionship.
Jean was predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Marie Tasch, and her sister, Jerry Cavella and survived by her husband Bob Gardner, nephew Robert (Jennifer) Cavella, niece Christina (Alex) Cavella and Grandniece, Alyssa Cavella.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 236 East Main Street, Maple Shade, NJ 08052. Jean’s Memorial Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jean’s memory to your nearest Hospice facility.
