Jean McGarrity, 87, of Burlington, NJ, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026. She was born on February 13, 1938, in Philadelphia, PA, to Robert and Hilda Winter.
Jean was a devoted mother to Karen Mullenax (James), Bill McGarrity (Darlene), the late Mary Nolan (late Richard), and the late Cheryl Bechler (William). She was a loving grandmother to Melanie, John, Carl, Brett, and Patrick, and a cherished great-grandmother to Ahmaar, Mehya, Jayda, Kasey, Gwen, Jake, Logan and Max.
She is survived by her sister, Nancy, and was predeceased by her siblings Robert, George, Doris, and Carol.

Jean grew up in Kensington and later moved to Holmesburg, where she raised her family. She enjoyed playing Scrabble, taking walks, and reading mysteries. Her happy place was Ocean City, NJ, but her happiest place on earth was in her daughter Mary's backyard, helping plant spring flowers, pruning the rosebushes, or even pulling weeds. She would call it her “horticultural therapy”.
Jean’s life celebration services will be held privately with close family on Sunday, February 1st, at Givnish of Cinnaminson, 1200 Route 130 North, at 10:30 a.m.
