Joan Summers Ferranti's Obituary
Joan Summers Ferranti passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on November 5, 2024. Born and raised in Philadelphia PA, Joan resided for most of her life in the Marlton/Medford NJ area. Beloved wife of the late Vincenzo Ferranti for 69 years.
She will forever be missed by her son: Thomas Ferranti; daughters: Christina Ferranti (Robert Jay), Cindy McFee (Ed McFee), Micki Ferranti-Martin (William MacAllister). Grandchildren: Jake McFee (Caiti Campbell) and Summer McFee, Connor, Cassidy, and Mallory Martin and Great Grandson Anthony McFee. She sadly leaves behind her nephews Don, Peter, and James Mazzarulli and their families.
Joan was an avid reader & book lover who worked as a school librarian at St. Joan of Arc in Marlton for many years. Her love of all things books eventually brought her to the Friends of the Evesham Township Library where she spent her retirement years as a volunteer and eventually as a Board member. She enjoyed spending time there with her many friends and was especially proud of the Friend’s bookstore.
Joan was also an avid birder, gardener, and traveler — who loved visiting our nation’s National Parks along with her husband, children and grandchildren.
Joan was a constant seeker of information, who greatly appreciated the written works of naturalists and poets. She was an environmentalist, and a feminist. She will be remembered most of all as a fiercely independent and strong woman who was a kind friend & neighbor, a wonderful mother, and the best MiMi.
In honor of Joan’s life, and in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Friends of the Evesham Township (NJ) Library, PO Box 1024, Marlton, NJ 08053.
Please join Joan’s family for a Celebration of Life on Wednesday May 21, 2025 at 4:30 to 6:00 at Givnish Funeral Home, 398 E Main St, Marlton, NJ 08053. A light buffet will be available during her celebration.
On May 22, 2025 at 1:30, Joan and her husband Vincenzo will be interred together at BG William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562. All are welcome.
