My first memory of Mom. First of MANY years worth of beautiful and fun ones.
I was 17 years old. It was May 12, 1972 and I had just met Glenn Sobota the night before. He asked me on a double date with his friend Dave and girlfriend for miniature golf.
We are going for the double date in his Dave's car. Dave's car breaks down and Glenn suggests that we go to his house to get his car. I am thinking we will just go to Glenn's house and change cars.
Glenn asked me to come in and meet his mom and his dad. So we go in to his house. His mom is laying on the sofa with a blanket not expecting company and relaxing for the night. She is absolutely beautiful, blonde , gracious, kind and classy. She wants to know if we want something to eat and drink and I found myself wanting to stay and talk to her longer. She made a real impression on me and I so liked her and I was so hoping she liked me. I say to her I hope to see you again and she says the same. I could never have imagined at that time she would be my future mother-in-law.
In addition to her outward beauty she was even more beautiful inside. She was so welcoming and warm and had such a beautiful way about her in addition to that wonderful sweet "little girl" voice and infectious laughter and smile.
I am so happy to have known her for 45 years and so VERY proud to have called her Mom for 40 years. She was such a great light in my life and I will miss her terribly.. I loved her so very much and there is a hole in my heart but I know she is with the Lord and Dad and that comforts me to know that. I have never known such a totally wonderful, selfless, caring and compassionate woman and it is by the grace of God that I did.
I love you Mom always.
️XOXOXO
