Johanna Marie Fogletto Schultz's Obituary
Johanna Marie Fogletto Schultz, 88, passed away peacefully at her home in Cinnaminson with her family by her side. Loving wife to the late Richard John Schultz. Dear mother to Barbara Anne Schultz, and Kristin Joyce Waninger (Joseph Waninger Jr.)and Nan Helene Cowan (Carl Severs). Devoted grandmother to Emily Ann Cowan (Scott Stockdale), Nicholas Richard Cowan (Bridget Hua Bai), John Michael Cowan and Sophia Marie Waninger. Beloved sister to Nancy Ruberton Maiorano and Benjamin Fogletto.
Johanna was born in Hammonton NJ where she resided until marriage. While attending school, she often helped her family work the blueberry farm. She had always wanted to become a teacher, so it was only fitting that she chose to enroll in Glassboro State College, a teacher’s college. Upon graduation she was hired by the Absecon School District, but ultimately was employed for 31 years with the Palmyra School District. Johanna taught several elementary school grades but primarily taught first grade. We like to say that she taught half of Palmyra!
Johanna had a strong sense of civic duty. For 12 years she held a town council position. We have fond memories of election night gatherings held in our family home.
Everyone who knew Johanna knew that she loved to bake. Her cinnamon rolls were a favorite in the school teachers’ room and at Christmas, she gifted beautiful trays of cookies to neighbors. Her pies received numerous awards at state fair competitions.
Johanna was fortunate to travel not only to much of the United States, but to Italy as well. It is her last trip to Italy that she often spoke about; we are comforted in knowing the joy she had in this 2 week escapade with her childhood friend.
A memorial service for Johanna will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan Hospice.
