John D. Baxter's Obituary
John D. Baxter passed away peacefully with his family at his side on April 5, 2021. Born in Philadelphia to William and Mary Baxter, John was 103 years old. He was a longtime resident of Riverton, NJ. Beloved husband of 68 years to Jacqueline (nee Gillespie) Baxter. Loving father of Dianne Daly and Christopher L. (Jennifer) Baxter. Cherished grandfather of Zoe, Kane, and Rory Daly. Brother of the late Marie Macphee.
John was a graduate of West Catholic High School in Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania Wharton Business School. He proudly served his country as a US Navy officer, deploying on beaches at Iwo Jima and Okinawa during some of the fiercest combat in WWII. He also served in the Korean War. He was employed as a nationally recognized business journalist for Chilton Publishing in Radnor, PA for many years. John was an avid reader and enjoyed golf, his family, and all sweet desserts.
John’s Memorial Mass and Military Honors will be private due to the pandemic.
