John J. McArdle's Obituary
John J. McArdle, 87, a longtime resident of Maple Shade, NJ, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025. Born on April 5, 1937, in Philadelphia, PA, to Albert and Anna McArdle, John lived a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to family.
He was the beloved husband of Dorothy “Dot” McArdle for 63 wonderful years. A dedicated father, he is survived by Denise McArdle, John McArdle Jr. (Mindy), Brian McArdle (Debbie), and was predeceased by his daughter Michelle Pensyl. He was a proud grandfather to David McArdle, Hailey Anthony, and Lauren McArdle, brother to the late Joan Lampart, and will be deeply missed by many other family members and friends.
John honorably served his country in the U.S. Army before beginning a career as a machinist at The Budd Company in Philadelphia. He and Dot were introduced through their fathers, who worked together, and together they built a life centered on love and shared adventures. They especially cherished their time “down the shore” at The Villas in Cape May, where John enjoyed fishing and never missed a sunset by the ferry. He was also an avid hunter and had a gift for making those around him smile.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, March 22nd, at Givnish of Maple Shade, 600 E. Main Street, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with a memorial service and military honors to follow at 12:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s name may be made to a charity of your choice.
