John Wilson Ormsby, Jr.'s Obituary
John Wilson Ormsby Jr., 80, lifelong resident of Maple Shade passed away at home surrounded by his family on Thursday June 13, 2019.
John loved his family, sweets, Hershey Kisses, ice cream, chocolate donuts, reading the Courier Post and going to Perkins for breakfast. In his younger years he was a paperboy for the Courier Post, independent taxi driver and a bartender at the Mill Road Inn. He was very proud of his country and was a veteran of the US Army. After retiring with Crescent/Keene Lighting at the age of 62 he continued working in retirement as a crossing guard in Maple Shade at the corner of Mill Rd, which was his favorite job.
John took his faith very seriously and always attended Sunday mass at O.L.P.H. Parish often sitting in the same pew. One of his fondest memories was serving as an Alter Boy.
John Ormsby, Jr. was the beloved husband of Linda Ormsby (nee Rivers), who he adored for 56 years of marriage. He was the son of the late John Wilson Ormsby Sr, and Mary Ormsby (Kensler) and brother of the late Mary Ewing-Welsh. John was a devoted father to his 5 children Linda Rose Ormsby-Campbell, John Wilson III (Dawn), Richard (Kimberly), Christopher (Jillian) and Steven Ormsby (Kathleen). He was a proud grandfather of Crystal Pinkley (Ryan), Linda D’Andrea (Antonio), Christopher (Carly) and Brandon Campbell, Bernadette (John), Keristan and Devon Welsh, John IV, Richard, Kiel, Chase, Blake, Maxwell, Jacob, Lincoln, Willa, Finneas, Stevie, Nash Ormsby and great-grandchildren Addison Matkowski, Dakotah, Alexandra, Makinsley and Levi Pinkley, Judea Quintanar, Sophia, Johnny, Dean and Jax Ferriola. John is survived by his brother Robert Ormsby of Maple Shade and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A gathering of family and friends for John Wilson Ormsby, Jr. will be held at Givnish of Maple Shade, 600 E. Main Street, Maple Shade, NJ 08052 from 8:30-10:30am on Wednesday June 19, 2019. Following the viewing a mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help 256 E. Main Street, Maple Shade, NJ 08052 starting at 11am. An interment will take place at Colestown Cemetery.
