John J. Shepherd Sr.'s Obituary
John J. Shepherd, Sr. (Shep), of Largo, Florida, formerly of Maple Shade, NJ, passed away on July 6th, 2024. He was 69 years old. John was born in Philadelphia, PA on February 13, 1955 to the late John Shepherd and the late Theresa Durning. Devoted husband to the late Barbara M. Shepherd (Pease). Beloved father to Tara T. Orsini (Matthew) and John J. Shepherd, Jr. (Alina). Loving grandfather to Timothy (Julia), Kyleigh, Michael, Anthony, Keira, and Maya, great grandfather of Colton, cherished brother to Dennis Shepherd, Michael Shepherd, and the late Theresa Shepherd. John is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who he considered his family.
John loved life. Throughout his life, he was an athlete. He started out as a talented soccer player and went on to be an avid golfer. Everywhere he went, people were drawn to his kind heart and remarkable smile. He helped everyone and anyone and was a friend to everyone he met. Despite spending the past year ill, he never lost his sense of humor. Throughout his entire journey, he cracked jokes with everyone he spoke to including his family, friends, doctors and nurses. He had a great ability to make others smile and his sense of humor will be missed. While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing he has been reunited with his wife and our mother Barbara for eternity.
Family and Friends are invited to celebrate John’s life on Tuesday August 6th,2024 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Givnish Funeral Home of Maple Shade. Located at 600 E Main Street, Maple Shade, NJ, 08052.
