John J Urbanski Sr's Obituary
John J. Urbanski, Sr., (called Jack by friends), 95, passed away peacefully on November 30th, 2018. Loving husband to Helen Urbanski (nee Ruczynski). Dear father to John J. Urbanski Jr. , Elaine Curran (Bill) and Debbie Rimkunas (Butch). Grandfather to John, Mark, Richard, Samantha, and Rebecca. Great-grandfather to Henry and Alice.
John was a WWII vet; he enlisted in the Army after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, and served honorably in the South Pacific with the 1397th Combat Engineer Construction Battalion. He was awarded a good conduct medal and 3 bronze stars. John worked at several jobs before taking a position at Rohm & Haas Co. in Bridesburg, where he worked for over 25 years. He was kind, wise, brave, and generous to all. He loved God, country, and family. John was a man of simple pleasures; his pastimes were reading the daily newspapers, watching the Eagles and the Phillies, cooking for his family, and going to the racetrack on occasion. John loved the holidays, reserving a special place in his heart for Christmas Eve. His ham and kielbasa recipes are well known and loved. John knew what was important in life, and lived as an example to his family. He will be sorely missed.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Friday, December 7th at Givnish of Cinnaminson, 1200 Route 130 N., from 9-10am. His Memorial Mass will follow at 10:30am at St. Charles Borromeo of Cinnaminson. Burial will take place at the Brigadier Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
