Jon A. Sandeen's Obituary
Jon Andrew Sandeen of Cinnaminson, New Jersey, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 13, 2024. Jon is survived by his wife, Beth Lee Sandeen, and his sons, Andrew, Robert, and William Sandeen. He is also survived by his loving parents, John and Karen Sandeen, his sister, Kristin (Jeff) Colson, his brother, Jeff (Tierra) Sandeen, and his nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jon previously lived in Largo, Florida and Fayetteville, Arkansas before making Cinnaminson his home for the past 19 years.
Jon was a devoted son, brother, husband, and exceptional father to his three sons. He graduated from Clemson University in 1989 and remained a loyal Tiger, donning Clemson orange every chance he had. He was fun-loving, adventurous, and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a huge prankster and brought so much laughter and spunk to his office, neighborhood gatherings, and family events. Jon never met a stranger and was loved by all who crossed his path.
Jon was the ultimate construction guy with over 30 years in the industry. He began his career as a Construction Manager at Walmart, moving quickly to Vice President of Construction. He and his family moved from Arkansas to New Jersey where he took on the position of Senior Vice President of Corporate Development for Commerce Bank. For the last 15 years he has been an integral part of the Real Estate department at NFI as Senior Vice President of Construction. He managed the Construction Development Team and oversaw more than 7.6 million square feet of ground up construction. It is a testament to his character that all three of his sons are following in his footsteps in the construction industry.
Jon was a man of integrity, always striving to do the right thing. He will forever be known in the construction industry for the saying, “They make the deal and we make it real!” Jon was loved and respected as a boss and co-worker and thought of his NFI team as family. Jon was an active member of the American Concrete Institute and participated in the MS150 City to Shore Bike Ride with Team NFI for many years. A classic car collector, Jon was often seen driving one of his 1960’s era Pontiacs in the Riverton or Cape May, NJ July 4th parades. He was a lifelong swimmer from the pools of his hometown in Largo, Florida, to the Clemson University Swim Team. Watching his three boys as “Swim Dad” was his most beloved role and brought him much joy.
His free time was filled with playing golf, waterskiing, snow skiing, boating, and competing on the pickleball courts. Jon loved traveling with his wife and boys to tropical locations, sports events, concerts and landmarks. He took his boys on legendary camping, skiing, and boating trips, always returning with stories that set off laughter.
Jon was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown, NJ, where he served in leadership and volunteer roles. He loved serving the church alongside his boys as they volunteered with the Interfaith Hospitality Network, providing shelter, meals, and assistance to homeless families.
