Joseph M. Deaner Jr., 73, Longtime Moorestown Resident
Joseph M. Deaner Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on February 5th at the age of 73. A longtime resident of Moorestown, Joe was known for his deep love of family, passion for sports, and dedication to his community.
Joe was the devoted husband of Mary Beth (née Wood) and a loving father to Lauren Wydra and her husband Riki, Joseph Deaner III, and Timothy Deaner. He was a proud and doting pop pop to Addison and Paige. Although Joe was an only child, he shared a special sibling-like bond with his cousins Mary Kathleen Boyle, Teresa McGuckin, and John Boyle.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Joe found joy both on and off the field. He spent many years coaching Moorestown youth football, baseball, and softball, helping to shape the lives of young athletes. He also cherished his time playing in the Moorestown men’s softball league with his team, Bums Studio. An avid fan, Joe rarely missed a chance to watch the Eagles, Phillies, or St. Joseph’s Hawks basketball. He loved following the Big 5 basketball games at the Palestra and could often be found catching up on scores in the Philadelphia Daily News.
Above all, Joe’s greatest love was his family. He treasured every moment with his wife, children, and grandchildren, bringing warmth, laughter, and unwavering support to their lives.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at his viewing on Monday, February 17th, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Givnish Funeral Home, 600 E. Main St., Maple Shade. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 18th, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Main St., Moorestown, followed by interment at Mt. Carmel cemetery, Moorestown .
Joe’s kindness, passion, and love for his family and community will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
