Joseph Edward Jarzyk Sr's Obituary
Joseph Edward “Ed” Jarzyk Sr.
April 22, 1931 – March 25, 2025
Ed was born to the late Michael and Margaret Jarzyk in Trenton, NJ. Growing up, he was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church on Adeline St. in Trenton. He was a graduate of Trenton High School, class of 1949. After graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, and served as a radio operator during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on December 12, 1952, but remained a proud Marine for his entire life.
In 1954, he met and married the love of his life Helen (Hosier), and together they had 3 children: Janet Ellen, born in 1964, Joseph Edward Jr, born in 1966, and Joyce Eileen, born in 1974. Ed and Helen lived in Trenton for the first ten years of their marriage, before moving to Beverly.
Ed was an Iron Worker, working for Local #68 out of Trenton. One of his more memorable jobs was helping in the construction of Six Flags Great Adventure. After his retirement, one of Ed’s favorite things to do was hit the casinos in Atlantic City.
Ed went out to Springfield, MO in the spring of 2024 to stay with his youngest daughter and her husband. Although his last ten months were filled with new adventures, he never stopped missing New Jersey and the family he still had there.
Ed passed peacefully in the early evening of March 25, 2025 at the age of 93, one month shy of his 94th birthday. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Michael and Margaret, his father-in-law, Harold, his niece, Alicia, his brother, Jim, his mother-in-law, Helen, his grandson, Michael, and his loving wife of 57 years, Helen.
He is survived by his daughter, Janet and her husband, Lee of Burlington, NJ; his son, Joseph Jr. and his wife, Donna of Riverside, NJ; his daughter, Joyce and her husband, Gary of Springfield, MO, his niece, Patricia of Hamilton, NJ. He is also survived by his grandsons, Ryan and Alex; his granddaughter, Rachel, great grandsons, Hunter, Dylan and Dustin, and great granddaughter, Charlotte.
Our family would like to extend our deepest thanks and appreciation to Ed’s neighbors in Beverly who really stepped up and helped him remain independent after Helen passed. We would also like to thank and acknowledge the amazing staff of Phoenix Hospice for making it possible for our loved one to spend his last days at home. You are truly angels on earth, and we will never forget the care, love, and compassion you showed to all of us.
