I had the honor of knowing Karl for just a few short years, but in that time, I learned that he was a man that lived very simply. He didn’t need much, nor did he ask for much. The people in his life were of the most value. He had many friends, loved his music, cards and horse racing, but he loved his late wife Michelle more than anything. Matched only by his love for his daughter Rebekka, and his grandsons, Luka and Lucien.
In the week since his passing, I’ve learned of countless acts of kindness from both friends and neighbors. He was always there for Rebekka and the grandkids whenever his help was needed, and he never complained. He made time to see his grandsons each week even it was for a short ride in the car.
My life has been enriched through the kindness that he showed to everyone, including myself. Thanks for taking me to Hackensack, having lunch with me and showing me the old neighborhood. We never ran out of things to talk about. You will be missed.
