Kathleen Anne Rehorst's Obituary
Kathleen Anne Rehorst, 61, of Maple Shade, NJ, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2022 with her family by her side. Dear wife to Thomas Rehorst. Beloved mother to Alana Anderson (Chad), Jasmine Gardner (Phil), and Samuel Richards. Daughter to Rose Stirner and the late Fritz Stirner. Grandmother to Asher, Ellie, Julian and Gregory. Sister to Robert Stirner (Debbie). Aunt to Becky, Cameron and Jack.
Kathy was a faithful servant of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She loved to share about Jesus with the people that she met in her life.
She cared about people and would reach out to anybody that needed love, care and support.
Kathy loved children very dearly, so when she took the position as a Crossing Guard at Baker School in Moorestown in August of 2016, it was a perfect fit. She executed her duties with love and determination. The safety of “her” kids was her prime concern. She tried to know every child she crossed by their name and when a holiday came around, she prepared little gift packs, filled with trinkets and toys, to hand one out to each kid she crossed.
One of Kathy’s hobbies was collecting 1960’s dolls and toys and she loved to go on “morning hunts” at yard sales and garage sales in the area. Finding a little treasure among things, that other people deemed worthless, was a big thrill to her. She also liked going to thrift stores for that same reason. On Facebook she was a member in many Doll Collector’s groups and proudly shared pictures of her finds and enjoyed seeing the finds and purchases of the other members. She also liked to give, so she started a Group named “Heart to Heart”, where she sold things, to donate the profits to charities. She also would buy clothing items and backpacks and Holy Bibles and then go to Camden together with her husband, to hand them out to the less fortunate people living on the street.
She was a member of the Auxiliary of The Baptist Home of South Jersey which supported the Riverview Estates Retirement Home and where she took care of the jewelry section. The proceeds from the donations the Auxiliary sold at the Thrift Store at Riverview Estates were benefitting the retirement home. As she loved people and talking to them, she would become friends with some of the occupants and go and bring gifts at Christmas time to them.
All in all, Kathy had a fulfilled and purposeful life, and she will be missed by family and friends equally.
It is comforting to know, that she is now free of pain and any sorrow!
A memorial service for Kathleen will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the American Cancer Society ( Http://www.cancer.org )
