Kathleen M. Volz's Obituary
Kathleen M. Volz (nee DeFoney) passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Samaritan Hospice in Mt. Holly, NJ. Born in Philadelphia to John A. and Catherine M. DeFoney, Kathleen was 79 years old. She was a resident of Delanco and formerly lived in Mount Laurel and Maple Shade. Beloved wife of 59 years to Leo R. Volz. Loving mother of Leo R. Volz, Jr. (Gail), Kathy Hamilton (Jimmy) and Beth Nelson.
Cherished mommom to Leeann (Lou), Leo (Aryn), Brian (Lauran), Aaron, Jill (Colton), Jake, Noah and Kassidy.
And great grandmother of Lucy, Ben, Oliver, Nolan and Avery.
Sister of Michael DeFoney (Francine) and Bernadette Mellon (Ed).
Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Kathleen was a class of 1959 graduate of Little Flower High School.
She enjoyed reading, traveling and time at the beach. Kathleen always looked out for her friends and neighbors, was quick with a how are you, get well card or container of homemade soup. Cooking and baking were her passion. If you were lucky enough to sit at her table, you were in for a treat. She was an excellent cook.
Her most cherished times were spent with her family. Her love grew exponentially with each generation. In her later years she was just a tiny, unassuming lady with an indescribable will to live. She spent most of her days checking on her family and friends which drove this will. She just wanted to make sure everyone was ok.
You were lucky if you got to call her neighbor or friend but those luckiest called her hon, mom or mommom. The world lost a caring, kind-hearted soul today and the hearts of those who loved her most will forever feel that void but, will take comfort knowing her years of fighting a losing battle are behind her and that she is no longer suffering and finally at peace. A lifetime of fond cherished memories will see us through.
Due to the current situation the family will be planning a memorial mass at a later date.
If so desired, memorial contributions in Kathleen’s name may be made to St. Jude Hospital for Children or Little Flower High School.
