Kumja Yi's Obituary
Kumja Yi was born (as Kumja Cho) in South Korea on April 20, 1946 and passed away on February 15, 2024 at 11:25 PM in Voorhees, NJ. Throughout her life, Kumja strived to live life to the fullest, experiencing many adventures. In her youth, she was a gifted dancer and writer. She married Jaeman Yi at age 20, and together they raised three children during a tumultuous time in Korean history. The young family enjoyed fishing and camping together in Korea. In her 50s, the family embarked on a new adventure by immigrating to the United States. In her new country, Kumja became a seamstress and worked diligently until she retired at age 74. She made good friends there. She grieved the loss of her husband in 2012, but she continued to live near her children and grandchildren. In her later years, she frequently enjoyed many fishing trips and swimming sessions with her children. She also discovered a love for K-Pop, Agatha Christie novels, baking, and gardening. She is lovingly remembered by her family for her fierce spirit, her limitless energy, her sharp intelligence, and for her uncompromising, protective love for her family.
