To the Rogers Family - Please accept my sympathies for your/our loss. I met Kurt in 1989 when we attended UH Hilo. Although we were both thousands of miles from home, we both had a common bond - we were just two guys from Jersey! As such, it allowed us to quickly become good friends as we both had stories to tell about Jersey. Although my stay at UH Hilo was short, Kurt always made time to reach out to me and I appreciated the effort. The last in person visits I had with Kurt were of course in Jersey at his parents home and also at Rutgers University. I am going to miss our conversations about the Eagles, Tommy and Sarah - the three most important things in his life. Every time we spoke, he would speak of how proud he was of his kids. I am going to miss ya #46. Rest in Peace. Until we meet again...

Aloha All. Devastated and saddened by this loss. From the first we met at the University of Hawaii-Hilo, I knew we'd be lifelong friends. We just clicked. I could always count on Kurt to make me laugh. On some weekends, we'd hitch rides to go to the only white sand beach on the Big Island called Hapuna Beach. Great memories there.
Kurt transferred to the UH Manoa campus while I went back to Hilo. He & Mike Kane stayed at my house and literally became part of my family. One night while they were there, my older sister went into labor with my first niece Jordan. She jokingly remembers her haole (Caucasian in Hawaiian) uncles Kurt & Mike.
My childhood friends became their friends so we'd hang out as much as we could. The first time I almost got arrested was with Kurt outside Pink Cadillac nightclub in Waikiki. We were in the parking lot after midnight when these rookie cops questioned us for loitering. Thanks to Kurt's smart a** remarks they threatened to arrest us. They ran our names through dispatch and all hell broke loose. My mom was the lead police dispatcher taking that call. I mistakenly forgot to tell her I flew back to hang out. Lol. Lesson learned.
Kurt eventually moved back home so we would connect occasionally over the phone. Having grown up in Hawaii, I didn't have a firm grasp of the time difference on the east coast so I'd call whenever. My apologies to the Roger's family for those early morning/late night calls. Another lesson learned. Lots of good memories. I wish we had more time together. Forever blessed our paths crossed. I met Kurt in College (Hawai’i)…and we later worked together for the same company (Medtronic)…he was a true friend...honest…funny…good-hearted…and always fun to be around. Kurt spent a lot of time at our house, he really liked me & Susan's Mom??? He was fun to be around and have very fond memories of him. His
"memorable" recreation of their senior prom was all Kurt.

I actually met Terri first in 2000 we worked in the same building. One day she came in and said that there is a position open in her husband‘s place of work. Well I got the job…He used to make me lock my desk and then he would use his lock picking kit and try to break in lol. And then when he didn’t wanna get in trouble he used to give me print outs to bring down to Linda verba who is a very passionate person about her job but he knew she wouldn’t yell at me. The day he said he was moving on was a sad day I knew it would never be the same around there. We kept in touch though every time He drove through Owensboro, KY I’d get a phone call (my maiden name is Owens). He called me when Tommy was born and then a week later my son was born. It was Christmas Eve and I didn’t call him that day figuring they were doing stuff and I got in trouble for not calling lol. We kept in touch all these years and I literally was talking about him a couple weeks ago. I was was going to call him and Then I saw the post from his son and my heart just sank. I’m still in shock and disbelief and I’m truly sorry that I never called you and I’m sorry we never got to have another wing night. Prayers to his family during this difficult time. Kurt was a great friend and I am going to miss him.

I am so sorry for your loss.... I remember Kurt when he was a little boy, and I would come over and babysit. He was at that time a little boy, full of playful energy, and jokes!. I remember Kurt hiding behind the pool table when it would be time to go to bed, and then as I was looking around for him, he would dart up the steps laughing.
I wish I could be there to comfort you in your grief, but know that I am praying for you and feel God’s presence surrounding all of you.
