Laura is also survived by her brother Matthew (Megan) and their son Liam Palentchar (LMP) and aunt to Jon, Logan and Lilly Richter. Laura arrived into this world on her mother’s 21st birthday. Laura earned three varsity letters in soccer and numerous art awards at Shawnee High school. She was very active in outdoor activities such as: skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, wave runners and hiking. Laura had various career experiences until she found her true passion educating and guiding parents of IP children. This led to Laura becoming the President of the non-profit organization known as IPIF. Laura has reached around the world helping families. She helped develop medical protocols for doctors and hospitals to follow to diagnose and treat IP children. When Laura was diagnosed with colon cancer at 40 years old, she became an advocate for colon cancer patients. Laura became a co-creator and administrator on a colon cancer support group. On Laura’s worst days struggling with cancer, she managed to continue to reach out to help others. The term “LauraStrong” became a known moniker within her IP and colon cancer support groups.
