Larry and I grew up across McKean Street from each other. A few years older, he was one of the "big brothers" in the neighborhood we looked up to. A football lineman, great student and Ray Charles fan, he was interesting as well as admirable. Sorry I lost touch with him over the years. So many great South Philly memories. My regrets to his family and friends.
My condolences to the family of Larry. We were good friends in High School and played football together at Bishop Neumann. His line mate Lou Penna just passed away about 6 months ago. Now the right side of the line is gone. I know how good they were together, I was the Quarterback. They protected me and all the backs that ran the ball.
I was with Larry about 8 years ago at a charity event for a mutual friend and I didn't recognize him, it had been over 40 years, he looked so much slimmer than the 5x5 big guy he was in High School.
We didn't stay in touch and that was a shame because Larry would have loved to be around all the guys. I still see a lot of the guys from the class of 65. Its our 50th reunion this year. We will miss Larry and will certainly remember him in our prayers.

My teen years were spent with Larry when he worked at his Aunt Rosalie's store on Ellsworth St in So Philly, where I grew up. We both married our childhood sweethearts on the same day in May 1970 and both wanted the same priest to marry us. Many fond moments of the teen years growing up.
