Lawrence C. Stearns' Obituary
Lawrence C. Stearns, 67, of Maple Shade, NJ passed away on Tuesday June 12, 2018 with his family by his side.
Lawrence C. Stearns was a devoted husband for 32 years to Ilse Stearns (nee Stakenburg). Lawrence was a loving father to his 4 children Rebecca Markward-Wood, Kelly Markward-Cook (John), Candace Markward-Maranzano (Vito), and Lawren Stearns (Jimmy Gribbin). Larry was a caring Pop-Pop to Gabriella Krowitz and Bailey Wood; John Jr. and Ilse-Marie Cook; Rosie and Vito Jr. Maranzano; Johanna and Kyla Gribbin.
Larry served in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam War, and was awarded various wartime action medals for valor and heroic conduct while fighting the enemy including the Purple Heart for being wounded in action.
Lawrence Stearns spent a career serving the citizens of Burlington County as a Police Officer with Delanco Township for 30 years. Larry retired as a Lieutenant in 2005. For most of his career Larry was affiliated with the Fraternal Order of Police, and acted as president of Burlington county lodge #2 for 10 years.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday June 15, 2018 at Givnish of Maple Shade located at 600 East Main Street, Maple Shade, NJ, starting at 10:30am and ending at 1:00pm.
