Leila Maria DeJoseph's Obituary
In loving memory of Leila Maria DeJoseph, affectionately known as Magooch and Mama Bird, whose passing on August 3, 2023, at the tender age of 41, leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her. Born in Naples, Italy, Leila’s zest for life radiated from the inside out.
Greatly missed by her college sweetheart and husband Justin, fondly called Birdman, and their precious children Gemma Paige (Gemstar), Blaise Carter (Blaiser), Anthony Massimo (Neener), and Demi Hope (Dem Dawg), Leila's love for her family was limitless and evident in everything she did. A treasured daughter of Helen Montagnaro and Massimo Rellini, dear sister to Robert Rellini, beloved daughter-in-law to Lynne and Anthony DeJoseph, and adored aunt, niece, and cousin to many, Leila was an unstoppable source of love and strength to those she held dear.
Whether it was creating memories in their happy place of Sea Isle City, proudly (and loudly) cheering on her kids on the field, dancing around the house to Post Malone, or a simple but meaningful afternoon hanging with her mom and best friend, Helen, to know Leila was to experience joy and grace, personified. Her endless warmth, positive energy in the face of any challenge, and captivating smile made people gravitate toward her with ease; her kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on all she encountered.
The center of her family's universe, Leila was a safe haven of comfort and support for Justin and their children. As we cherish her memory, we will love and guide her little ones, to uphold the values and traditions she worked so hard to build.
Loved ones and friends are invited to pay their respects at the viewing on Thursday, August 10, 2023, from 9 AM to 12 PM at Sacred Heart Church in Riverton; mass will follow at 12:00 PM.
In honor of Leila's memory, the family kindly requests contributions to Leila’s A Team, a special Autism fund created in her name. A fervent advocate for her son Anthony and all who have autism, this fund will honor her unwavering commitment to “Anything For Anthony” and support the Delran School System’s Special Education Program, providing care and assistance to children with autism (https://gofund.me/140de815).
Leila’s light, love, and impact will never be forgotten, and she will remain irreplaceable in the lives of her family and friends. While she rest in eternal peace, we know her presence and spirit will remain forever with those she so fiercely loved and championed earth side.
