Lillian Darch's Obituary
Lillian Darch (nee Parfitt), 82, of Cinnaminson, long time resident of Burlington Township peacefully passed away on February 7th, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Lillian passed from a recent diagnosis of breast cancer. She was born in Scranton, PA, on March 1st, 1940, to the late Benjamin Parfitt and the late Lillian Parfitt (nee Savino). Beloved mother to James A. Darch, Tina Convery (Thomas), Theresa Marinelli (Paul), Kathy Darch (Jennifer), David A. Darch (Paula). Sister to the late Eugene Parfitt, late Leona Luby, Audrey Doty, Alice Aten, and Joseph Sebak. Loving grandmother to Nicole, Katie, Daniel, Dominic, David, Aaron, Carlie, Luke, Olivia, John, and great grandmother to Thomas.
Lillie grew up in Scranton PA, and is proud to tell you she was a coal miner's daughter. Growing up, she loved the arts, played the piano, violin, and volleyball. She was a candy striper volunteer at her local hospital. She shared how much she loved going to Elk Lake in the summers with her family.
She moved to New Jersey and raised a family. Lillie was quiet, loving, and very creative. She made her kids’ clothes, painted murals in the kids’ rooms, and was always cooking for her large family. She made homemade pizza, pies, and granola. She went to all her kids’ sports, and even kept the books for softball. She bowled, waitressed part-time, and volunteered with the ladies auxiliary for a local firehouse. She kept active with biking, and going on walks with her dog. When time permitted, she enjoyed reading a good book. She loved to travel with her family locally, and toured sites around the country.
Lillie had a passion for music. You could always hear music being played in her house and her car; from vinyls, 8 track tapes, cassette tapes to CDs. A few of her favorite vocalist/groups are Bob Seger, Doobie Brothers, Barbra Streisand, Fleetwood Mac, Chicago, Eagles, Elton John, Carole King, Carly Simon, Queen, Steely Dan, and Genesis. Her same affection for music was passed down to all her kids.
Lillie was an artist! She spent many hours sketching near lakes, beaches, and mountains. Her gifted craft was oil painting. She would take art classes as well as give lessons to others. She sold her artwork at art fairs and festivals; her favorite was the Wood Street fair. She always had her art materials setup ready for painting.
Lillie was fulfilled when singing in her church choir. She had fond memories of an amazing trip with her church to the Holy Land, toured the region, and got baptized in the Jordan river.
As years passed, her love spread to her grandchildren. Watching them grow up put a smile on her face. There was never a short supply of hugs from grandmom/gram. Mom liked to raise her cup with her family (usually her morning coffee), so let's give a final ‘Cheers’ to Lillie, and leave you with one of her favorite phrases “There you go!”
